10 Accommodation Moving to a new country can be both exciting and stressful, and we want to make sure you have somewhere welcoming, comfortable, and safe to live. Our Accommodation Solutions team offers a wide range of options to suit various living styles and needs, from our catered halls of residence to our self-catered flats and apartments. We also offer guidance with finding private accommodation near your campus. University halls of residence If you are a recent school leaver, our catered first-year halls of residence will give you a great environment to complement the start of your academic studies. We understand that transitioning from high school to University can be an overwhelming experience, which is why all of our halls of residence offer a safe and supportive environment to guide you through your first year. In addition to social and recreational events organised throughout the year, we ensure that academic mentoring and informal study groups are available to encourage and engage our residents. University flats and apartments Our University-managed, self-catere d flats and apartments offer our postgraduates and undergraduates aged 19+ a more independent lifestyle during their study at the University of Auckland. All University residences are within easy walking distance of our City and Grafton Campuses, as well as many of Auckland’s main attractions. There are a variety of room options available from approximately $190-$350 per week. The benefits of living in our University flats and apartments include free Wi-Fi, a free membership to the University Recreation Centre , comfortably furnished common areas to relax, study, or socialise, and the opportunity to live with Kiwis and experience New Zealand life and culture. Couples and families If you’re moving to New Zealand with your spouse and/or children, we have housing options available for you too. Couples can be accommodated in our deluxe studio and one-bedroom apartments for approximately $330-$390 per week, and families can be accommodated in our two- and three-bedroom apartments for approximately $440-$550 per week. Apply now Applications for University residences open on 1 August for the full academic year and Semester One accommodation, and 1 April for Semester Two accommodation. Make sure to apply online as early as possible in order to ensure a space in your preferred choice of residence. We strongly recommend you apply even before you have confirmation of your University admission so you don’t miss out. Private accommodation If you want to look for accommodation outside of the University residences, our Accommodation Solutions team can assist you with finding suitable rental accommodation and offer guidance about renting or flatting in Auckland. Options include renting a studio apartment on your own, renting a shared apartment with friends, renting a room in an established flat, or living with a homestay family.
